Zero Hour poster

The brief for this project was to design a campaign for Zero Hour, an organisation demanding climate action. Their goals are to raise awareness of the climate crisis, encourage people to join the ongoing campaign and legalise the Climate and Ecology Bill.
I began to explore different motifs to do with climate change which included time & urgency, the Earth, the UK, nature, bees and making climate change relatable.
Nature is something relatable and emotive in the UK, it is something that has special meaning and significance. Nature can connect all audiences of the UK, even if this is just the local park and green spaces. I wanted to highlight UK’s wildlife, even the mundane areas, as something to be treasured and protected.

The phrase ‘this is worth protecting’ and a selection of local photos have been used to showcase the beauty of nature. This keeps it as relevant for as many people as possible, since a whole range of people would pass this poster out and about.
Hexagons have been used to frame the images to link back to nature and how everything is interconnected.
I brought my campaign onto a leaflet, while adapting it to best suit the leaflet. I have carried the visual link of the hexagon through to make the background.

The final aspect of the campaign was designing an asset to be used in a digital space. Compared to the poster in which anyone could walk past it, those online are often a younger audience. Within a digital environment everything is fighting for the viewer’s attention.
I’ve chosen to create Instagram posts, since this is a medium in which Zero Hour could extend their reach. I have used a carousel post making use of the trail element which encourages the user to swipe through.
